National Zoo

The words "National Zoo" represent a large, complex, and diverse organization with a multifaceted mission: demonstrate leadership in animal care, science, education, and sustainability.
PandasAbout 2,000 animals from about 400 different species currently comprise the animal collection at the National Zoo and the Zoo's Conservation and Research Center (CRC) in Virginia. About one-fifth of the species are endangered or threatened. Most species are on exhibit at the National Zoo in Washington, D.C. A few are found only at the CRC, which is not open to the public. In our session, you will learn about the causes of Global Climate Change, the impact on animals and hear about projects you can start or actions you can take. About the Conference

Explore Smithsonian research and collections related to the evidence, impact, and response to climate change. Alongside Smithsonian scientists and curators, you’ll look at the issues surrounding climate change from the perspectives of science, history, and art.
